This formula is based on University of Delhi Notification Ref. No. Dean (Exams)/2017/9126 dated 20.12.2017 for the CBCS formula (× 9.5), and Notification Ref. No. CNC-II/093/1(22)/2022-23/ dated 10.02.2023 — Addition to Ordinance VIII, EC Resolution No. 60-1/(60-1-13) — for the NEP/UGCF formula (× 10). The 2017 notification states 'Final Percentage of marks = C.G.P.A. based on all six semesters × 9.5', w.e.f. the CBCS examinations of May/June 2018; the 2023 notification's clause 10 states that the final percentage 'shall be calculated as Grand CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) multiplied by a factor of 10'. This page defaults to CBCS, where CGPA 10.0 = 95%, not 100% — NEP/UGCF students (admitted 2022-23 onwards) should switch the picker above, and the formula, table and worked example all follow. The divisions come from a third document, DU's University Calendar, Ordinance IX clause 12, which governs students 'admitted to the Three Year Under-graduate programme under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)' and names exactly three: First Division at 60%, Second at 50%, Third below 50% with every paper passed. There is no Distinction tier at DU, whatever else you may have read. For NEP/UGCF, DU has published the formula but no division criteria at all, so that scheme shows a percentage and no class rather than a band we would have to invent. DU's divisions anchor at percentage, not CGPA; the CGPA values shown are the formula equivalents. For official purposes, always verify with your college's examination department.

Short answer: at DU, you don't. Delhi University does not award a Distinction on its undergraduate degrees at all. Ordinance IX clause 12 — the clause governing CBCS three-year UG courses — lists exactly three categories, based on the final percentage: First Division at 60% or more, Second Division at 50% or more but less than 60%, and Third Division below 50% where all papers are passed. There is no 75% band and no Distinction band anywhere in it. You will find plenty of sites — this one included, until we sat down and read the ordinance — claiming DU awards 'First Division with Distinction' at 75%. No DU regulation says so. So under the CBCS formula (Percentage = CGPA × 9.5), First Division starts at 60%, which is a CGPA of about 6.32, and Second Division at 50%, about 5.27 — and a 9.0 CGPA (85.5%) earns exactly the same First Division as a 6.4. For NEP/UGCF students (admitted 2022-23 onwards, Percentage = CGPA × 10), DU has published the × 10 formula but no division criteria at all, so we show no class rather than guess one.
