How to Convert Percentage to CGPA

To reverse-convert percentage to CGPA, we use the inverse of your university's formula. For example:

  • CBSE / Delhi University: CGPA = Percentage ÷ 9.5
  • AKTU / SPPU: CGPA = (Percentage ÷ 10) + 0.75
  • JNTUH / GTU: CGPA = (Percentage ÷ 10) + 0.5
  • Anna / VTU (2022 scheme) / RGPV / VIT: CGPA = Percentage ÷ 10
  • VTU (2015 / 2017 / 2018 schemes): CGPA = (Percentage ÷ 10) + 0.75 — older VTU schemes only; current 2022 scheme is in the row above.
  • Mumbai University (pre-2026 transcripts only): CGPA = (Percentage - 11) ÷ 7.1 — formula repealed 1 Jan 2026 by Circular 803/2026; useful for back-calculating the implied CGPA on older transcripts.

Always select your university from the dropdown to get the exact reverse formula.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I need to convert percentage to CGPA?

Some job applications, entrance exams, or universities abroad require your GPA/CGPA. If your marksheet only shows percentage, you need to convert it to CGPA for comparison or eligibility checks.

Is the reverse conversion exact?

Yes, if you use your university's specific formula. The reverse formula is mathematically exact. However, CGPA systems have discrete grade points, so a percentage converted to CGPA and then back may have minor rounding differences.
