MAKAUT Percentage to CGPA Calculator
Convert your percentage to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology CGPA using the reverse of the official formula.
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology in Kolkata (formerly West Bengal University of Technology, or WBUT, renamed in 2017) is the main state technical university for West Bengal. MAKAUT uses Percentage = (CGPA − 0.75) × 10, published in its official notice on calculating percentage from grade points. The same formula applies to the Discipline Grade Point Average (DGPA) printed on the final consolidated grade card, so DGPA-to-percentage works exactly like CGPA-to-percentage here. Its grade scale carries one widely-misread label — the 'E' grade is Excellent (9 grade points), not fail. And unlike most universities on this site, MAKAUT awards no class or division at all: the grade card reports your DGPA, and that is the number employers and other universities work from. The 'First Class at DGPA 6.50' figures you may see elsewhere are not from any MAKAUT regulation.

Source: MAKAUT's official notice 'How to Calculate Percentage from Your Grade Point' (makautwb.ac.in), whose grade-point-to-percentage table (6.25 = 55, 6.75 = 60, 7.25 = 65, 7.75 = 70, 8.25 = 75) confirms Percentage = (CGPA − 0.75) × 10. MAKAUT's grading regulation — the 2002 First Regulation as amended by Circular No. COE/MAKAUT,WB/51/2020 — awards no class or division on the degree; the grade card carries a DGPA only.. Formerly WBUT. Two things students get told wrong about MAKAUT: the 'E' grade is Excellent (9 points), not a fail, and MAKAUT does not award any First Class / Distinction / division on the degree — its grade card reports a DGPA only, per the grading regulation (2002 First Regulation as amended by Circular COE/MAKAUT,WB/51/2020, which even discontinued the old minimum-DGPA pass floor from 2019-20). Numbers like 'First Class at DGPA 6.50' circulate widely but trace to no MAKAUT document, so we don't publish a class here. ✓ Verified 16 July 2026
